From fine art to conceptual art

In addition to works of fine art, from the 1980s onwards I also produced many photographic works documenting contemporary political and social events. These included the RAF assassination attempt on Alfred Herrhausen, Schleyer, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Kosovo War and Europe’s refugee policy.
The confrontation with extreme events such as these changes one’s view of life and art. Perhaps this explains why I am always prepared to push the boundaries of art in my search for the best form of expression; to break new ground; to dare to experiment. The artist’s monograph GRENZERFAHRUNG – Fluchtziel Europa is just one example among many.

Commercial work
Like many other artists, I had to finance myself through various jobs in the early years. That was the only way I could afford to live as an artist. In the 80s, I started working as a freelance photographer for newspapers and publishing houses. This was later followed by jobs as an advertising photographer, illustrator and creative director. The three sections ILLUSTRATION, JOURNALISM and ADVERTISING provide a brief overview of this area.
